Wildlife Enhancement Efforts

The Pitt Meadows Gun Club, being committed to improving the region of Pitt Meadows and the Lower Mainland of BC, has teamed up with wildlife enhancement groups, PittWaterfowlers and the Burke Mountain Naturalists Society. Together they have managed to enact several projects.

The PittWaterfowlers have been primarily involved in a Wood Duck Box project to compensate for the significant logging and diking that took place in the Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge area in order to make room for agriculture and real estate.

The Burke Mountain Naturalists Society and our mutual members have been utilizing the property of Pitt Meadows Gun Club to construct bat boxes. They have shown to successfully house bats most years since their inception.

HABITAT IMPROVEMENT

With a group of volunteers and with the help of donations from organisations like PMGC, the PittWaterfowlers are able to run an annual Wood Duck Nest Project. This allows for safe nesting grounds for a species that has previously been impacted by logging practices.

EARLY HUNTER INITIATION

The founders of PittWaterfowlers, Dan Otway and Chris Bradford, regularly work with youths from the Pitt Meadows area and PMGC members to help show our juniors how to safely and effectively hunt waterfowl.
